Lianne

My name is Lianne and currently I am serving as the District 3 Second Alternate Dairy Princess for the 2009-2010 year. I am 18 years old and attend California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo with the major of Dairy Science and an emphasis in Husbandry and Communications. There I am an active member in the Cal Poly Dairy Club as well as the Western Bonanza Livestock Show. I graduated from Tomales High School in 2009 where I was President of the FFA Chapter, a Sectional Officer, Captain of the Varsity Volleyball team, and an active member in Student Government. In my free time, I enjoy working on the dairy, riding dirt bikes, going to the beach, listening to music and spending quality time with my family and friends.

I have been involved in the dairy industry for my entire life. My family owns and operates a 350 Holstein cow dairy in beautiful Point Reyes, Calif. Dairy farming has been in both sides of my family for almost 100 years and I am very proud to be a part of this industry. I currently have a small herd of about 15 Registered and Grade Holstein cows. I have previously been involved in 4-H and FFA where I exhibited my dairy cattle at local competitions.

Through my role as a Dairy Princess, I am able to share my passion and knowledge of the industry with the public. My role in District 3 is to promote the dairy industry in any way possible by interacting and educating the public about the local industry, products and the importance of the industry in our every-day lives. Being a Dairy Princess has given me more of an insight to the industry: both of the producer and consumer. My duty is also to promote Real California dairy products with the Real California Milk Seal placed on their label. Products bearing the seal are products made with milk produced right here in California from our local dairymen. By buying products with the seal, you are promoting your local dairy industry as well as California's high standards for milk production. All of the events and functions I have attended this year as a Dairy Princess have truly contributed to an amazing experience that I will never forget.
