Kaci
My name is Kaci Raven and my entire life has revolved around academics, athletics and exhibiting dairy animals for Elkhorn 4-H. Juggling all of these activities has taught me time management and organizational skills that will serve me well during my reign as District 9 Kings County Dairy Princess.
I had the tremendous opportunity to grow up on a diversified farm operation and a dairy farm. One of the main reasons that I want a college education was the result of working as a herdsman for a neighbor's dairy one summer. I have never worked so hard in my life as I did that summer. I realized the importance of developing my mental capacities and skill levels and the importance of a college education. I made a promise to myself that I would never have to rely on my physical skills to earn a living.
I have always been around dairy animals because of my brother, Cody Raven, and his involvement in showing cows at the fairs. He also owns and operates a 300- cow dairy. I have shown animals at the fair since I was eight years old. I am responsible for the care and clipping of all my show animals. Even though it is a lot of hard work, I look forward to showing at the fairs every year.
I am currently attending California State University, Fresno majoring in business with a minor in Ag Business. The Sid Craig School of Business is ranked as one of the top business schools in the nation. With this type of structure in academics, I can diversify and learn about the business world from the agricultural and non-ag sector of our economy. At this time, I want to pursue a career in marketing and communications, perhaps even with the California Milk Advisory Board!
