The past few weeks have been pretty hectic for me
The past few weeks have been pretty hectic for me. Having school five days a week, working on the farm, and attending events as the dairy princess, keeps my days very full. On top of all this I now have a baby to feed twice a day. She's very furry and is the perfect mixture of black and white. One of my registered Holstein cows, Serena, had her very first calf on October 8th and best of all it was a girl!
This is my baby that I have to feed. Coming up with a name for my new girl was kind of hard. When I name one of my calves I try to pick a name that suits them, because believe it or not they all have their own personality. I finally settled on Abigail. So now my day starts around 5 in the morning with feeding her, and then I feed her again around 5 in the afternoon. Animals, dairy cattle in particular, are very good at telling time and if I a m not there on time to feed her she will definitely lets me know it. I also attended the Riverbank Cheese and Wine Exposition on October 11th. I was there from 10 in the morning until about 4 in the afternoon.
I had my very own table where I set up information on the California dairy industry as well as handouts on Real California Milk and Real California Cheese. I even had some of the famous California Happy Cow commercials on. I was located in the cheese pavilion where there were cooking demonstrations as well as cheese from different companies. I had a great time sampling cheese an d meeting other cheese enthusiasts.
