And so the year begins.
It seems that I have traveled California in such a small amount of time and I love it. The experience is wonderful.
As I said in my earlier post, I was going to go to an elementary school and hand out 20 backpacks full of pencils, glue, and other school supplies for children who couldn’t afford such materials. It was a success! The principal was very happy to see the backpacks and children around the playground loved the ‘bling’ – aka my crown.
I recently visited the California State Fair in Sacramento. Coming from Tulare County, I thought the heat wouldn’t bother me much, but how wrong I was. Aside from the heat, I worked with a few of the other Dairy Princesses and Alternates at the cheese tasting table, handed out ribbons, and gave out samples at the CMAB booth. Many people came up to Michelle (District 8 Dairy Princess Alternate) and me in the CMAB booth and told us how much they love the Happy Cow commercials and now buy products with the Real California Seal. It’s a great feeling when people say that to you. :)
Next on my schedule is the Tulare County Fair (September 16-20) and I am really excited to be in that atmosphere again! I love to be around animals – especially cows – and around the showring. I’ll be handing out ribbons during the 4-H dairy show day, the FFA dairy show day, and giving out awards on sale night. I’ll also be in the parade, so keep an eye out for me. I’m going to practically live at the fair.
Pretty soon school visits start and I’m ready to interact with children. It seems to get better and better as events pop up! I can’t wait!
