Wow! It's been an amazing summer with the Dairy Princess Program

The three District 1 Dairy Princesses attended the Humboldt County Fair in mid-August. Although we were torn between showing our animals and the Humboldt Creamery ice cream booth, each of us was on our toes the entire time.  Overall, it was a successful and fun experience.

The weekend of August 28th-30th, Rachel and I traveled down to the California State Fair in Sacramento. Once there, we handed out ribbons to the hard working and very deserving exhibitors and gave out cheese samples in the California Milk Advisory Board booth. In the booth, I informed some inquiring fair goers about the ethical treatment of show cows concerning their udders and the human consumption of milk from aged dairy cows. I found it delightful to tell people the right thing and insured that they were no longer misinformed. It was wonderful to get to know the other dairy princesses around the state and an honor to be asked to hand out ribbons for the Supreme Champion Dairy Show.

Now, school has started and as I am a senior, it will be a very busy year. I am very excited for this upcoming year and I know it will be a great one!
